Our work integrates physical, chemical, and biological sciences to drive innovation in agrochemical research, formulation development, and performance assessment. Successfully designed and conducted comprehensive bio efficacy and bioassay studies to assess the biological performance and phytotoxic behavior of both in-house and sponsor-developed pesticide formulations across a range of crops. Generated reliable, data-driven insights by analyzing experimental patterns and interpreting results under controlled laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions. Strengthened commercial and regulatory decision-making by ensuring formulations met performance standards and compliance requirements. Contributed to building a strong scientific foundation for determining the suitability, safety, and agricultural applicability of new pesticide formulations through systematic evaluation and robust research infrastructure.

Sponsored Studies

Over the last four years, successfully handled more than 150 laboratory and field studies, generating scientific data for regulatory submission, commercialization, and performance validation of agrochemical formulations.

Revenue Generation & Professional Expertise

  • Bio-efficacy Studies as per CIB&RC requirements, conducting 18 multi-location field studies on bio-efficacy, phytotoxicity, and impact on natural enemies for various sponsors in 2023, generating ₹58.62 lakh in institutional revenue.
  • Bio-efficacy Studies, successfully executing 31 field and laboratory studies on bio-efficacy, phytotoxicity, and effects on natural enemies for multiple sponsors in 2024, contributing ₹63.84 lakh to institutional revenue.
  • Functioned 34 field and laboratory bio-efficacy studies in compliance with CIB&RC guidelines, evaluating phytotoxicity and non-target organism safety in 2025, generating ₹76.83 lakh in revenue.
  • Currently serving as Bio-efficacy Studies having completed 23 field and laboratory studies on bio-efficacy, phytotoxicity, and impact on natural enemies for various sponsors (as on 16.02.2026), with revenue generation of ₹56.59 lakh.

Ecotoxicology Facility

Successfully led the development and establishment of a dedicated Ecotoxicology Facility at the institute, significantly strengthening research infrastructure and technical capabilities. This initiative enhanced institutional capacity for comprehensive environmental risk assessment and regulatory evaluation of agrochemical formulations.

Opportunities

The Bioscience Division at Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT), Gurugram, offers diverse opportunities for industries, students, researchers, and other stakeholders in the agrochemical and bioscience sectors.

Industries:
We undertake industry-sponsored bioefficacy, phytotoxicity, persistence, and residue field trials in accordance with Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIBRC) guidelines. Our services include laboratory bioassay studies, in-house formulation screening, household pest evaluation, regulatory data generation, and technical consultancy to support product development and commercialization.

Research & Development (R&D):
The division is actively engaged in R&D for new-generation and eco-friendly pesticide formulations with a focus on improved efficacy, reduced toxicity, environmental safety, and sustainable crop protection technologies. We support innovation-driven projects aimed at developing advanced, environmentally responsible agrochemical solutions.

Students and Researchers:
We offer internships, dissertation projects, industrial training, and research opportunities with hands-on exposure to laboratory bioassays, greenhouse experiments, and field trials. Participants gain practical experience in formulation evaluation, environmental risk assessment, and regulatory research.

Collaborative Opportunities:
The division promotes collaborative research with academic institutions, research organizations, agrochemical industries, and start-ups through joint research projects, sponsored studies, and technology validation programs.

Farmers and Other Stakeholders:
We organize farmer awareness programs, technical workshops, and training sessions on safe pesticide use, resistance management, and sustainable agricultural practices, along with consultancy services for pest management and formulation performance evaluation.
