RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research work is focused on understanding Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs), their precursors, degradation products, and chemistry for identification using various advanced instrumental techniques. As part of the OPCW mission, my work contributes to implementing the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) with the vision of achieving a world free of chemical weapons and their threat, where chemistry is used for peace, progress, and prosperity.

In agriculture and household applications, pesticides play a critical role with both advantages and environmental/health concerns. My research includes technical analysis of pesticides, formulation studies, residue and impurity analysis for regulatory control, safe usage, and promotion of bio-botanical pesticides as futuristic alternatives.

My work emphasizes:

  1. CWA analysis
  2. Pesticide and pesticide residue analysis using advanced extraction and instrumental techniques across multiple matrices
  3. Development and validation of analytical methods as per international guidelines
  4. Maintaining laboratory accreditations such as NABL, OPCW, and GLP

KEY TECHNICAL & RESEARCH EXPERTISE

  1. OPCW proficiency testing (PT) sample preparation and qualitative analysis of CWC-related chemicals from soil, water, organic matrices, metal sheets, sanitizers, etc., using GC (NPD, FPD), GC-MS
  2. Derivatization of CWC-related chemicals (silylation, methylation, thiolation)
  3. Extraction of complex matrices using silica SAX/SCX clean-up
  4. Synthesis of CWC precursors, degradation products, and by-products
  5. Identification and confirmation of compounds using GC, LC, GC-MS, LC-MS
  6. Study Director / Deputy Study Director / Study Personnel in GLP studies
  7. SOP preparation for physico-chemical parameters, multiresidue analysis, and A.I. content as per OECD / CIPAC / WHO / FAO / SANTE guidelines
  8. Study plan, study schedule, study report preparation and QA compliance
  9. Deputy Quality Manager (NABL), Analytical Division, IPFT
  10. Method development and validation using LC-MS/MS, LC-QTOF (HRMS), GC-MS/MS
  11. Internal calibration and maintenance of UV, FTIR, GC, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, LC-QTOF and other instruments
  12. Multi-residue pesticide analysis in food, grains, vegetables, soil, and water
  13. Training of professionals from Indian and international pesticide industries
  14. Development of synthetic and bio-pesticide formulations (gel, microemulsion, EC, nano-formulations) and bio-efficacy studies
  15. Organic synthesis, purification, and structural elucidation using PREP-HPLC, LC-QTOF-MS, FTIR, NMR, UV
  16. Process development of agrochemicals, intermediates, and pharmaceutical intermediates

RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Support to OPCW’s mission for Chemical Weapons Convention implementation
  2. Pesticide residue analysis and national-level monitoring
  3. Laboratory quality systems and regulatory compliance
