Research Interests

My core research focuses on the development and validation of analytical methods for the identification and verification of chemicals listed under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), including their degradation products. This research strengthens India’s national security by enhancing its ability to detect and identify chemical warfare agents and their degradation products. It supports India's obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) by developing advanced analytical methods for verification and compliance. Through participation in OPCW proficiency tests and hosting the Analytical Skills Development Course (ASDC), India demonstrates scientific leadership and contributes to international capacity building. Additionally, the methods developed can improve public safety and environmental monitoring, further benefiting national interests. Also, this work directly supports the mandate of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Key areas of research include:

  1. Method development using advanced analytical techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, NMR and high-resolution (orbitrap) mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS).
  2. Development of novel derivatization methods and comprehensive mass spectral studies to improve detection and identification of CWC-related compounds.
  3. Participation in OPCW Environmental and Biomedical Proficiency Tests to ensure compliance with international standards.

Additionally, I am actively involved in the implementation of the Analytical Skills Development Course (ASDC)-a prestigious OPCW-sponsored international training program hosted by IPFT to build capacity in CWC-relevant chemical analysis among scientists from member states.
